A fair number of people make an afternoon of coming in — appointment, then lunch, then home. These are places around Hendersonville that locals actually go to. Not a ranking, and nobody paid to be listed.

Around Main Street

Cafe 393 on Main — a local spot on Main Street, and one of the names that comes up most when people are asked where to eat in town.

Main Street Bistro — as the name suggests, also on Main, and a reliable sit-down option.

Myers Front Porch — another established local favourite.

Puckett's — a Tennessee name with a following well beyond Hendersonville.

Around Indian Lake

The Streets of Indian Lake, at 300 Indian Lake Blvd, is the town's open-air shopping centre and where most of the chain options cluster. Two breakfast and brunch places sit right there:

First Watch, 271 Indian Lake Blvd — breakfast, brunch and lunch, closing mid-afternoon.

Keke's Breakfast Cafe, 209 Indian Lake Blvd — same idea, same part of town, also closing mid-afternoon.

Both are chains rather than independents, which we mention because it matters to some people and not to others. They are convenient, they are consistent, and if you are coming from an appointment at 126 Stadium Drive they are close.

• After a facial or a peel, your aesthetician may suggest going easy on very hot food and drink for a short while. Ask on your way out.
