Lake Season and Laser Timing: Why Fall and Winter

There is one genuinely seasonal piece of scheduling advice in aesthetics, and in a lake town it matters more than most places: laser treatment and heavy sun exposure do not sit well together.

The reasoning

Sun exposure interacts with laser treatment both before and after. Your provider will give you specific guidance for your treatment and your skin — this is not something to generalise from a blog post.

But the practical shape of it is consistent: laser courses come with sun-protection guidance, and that guidance is much easier to follow in November than in July.

Why this bites harder in Hendersonville

Because of the lake. From roughly Memorial Day, a large share of this town is outdoors on Old Hickory for most of the weekend. Reflected light off water is easy to underestimate, and "I will just stay out of the sun" is a promise that does not survive contact with a boat.

If your summer looks like that, plan around it rather than hoping.

A rough calendar

Approximate, and no substitute for the plan your provider gives you.

September – November: the best window to start

Cooling off, sun exposure dropping, and enough runway to get through a multi-session course before next summer. If you are going to start laser hair removal, this is when.

December – February: continue, or start something involved

The quietest months for sun exposure. A reasonable window for resurfacing treatments, which need the treated skin protected afterwards.

March – May: finish up

Wrap up courses started in the autumn. Starting something long now means the back half of it lands in high summer.

June – August: maintenance

Not a blanket ban — your provider will tell you what is reasonable. But it is the hardest season for compliance, and it is worth asking honestly whether something can wait until September.

What this means for a course

Laser hair removal takes several sessions spread over months. Work backwards:

  • Want to be finished before summer? Start in autumn.
  • Starting in April? The tail of your course lands in July, when sun avoidance is hardest.

The same logic applies to resurfacing. Recovery plus sun protection is a much easier ask in the cooler months.

The year-round part

Sun protection is not a seasonal treatment-adjacent chore; it is the single most useful everyday habit for skin. Winter sun, overcast days and reflected light off the lake all count.

Booking

Bring your calendar to your consultation, including any holidays and any lake plans. We will plan around them — that is a much better conversation than discovering the clash halfway through a course.
