Independents worth your time

Drips Coffee Shop — house-made syrups, well-made cold foam, and the kind of baristas who will talk you through what they are doing if you are interested.

The Ugly Mug — cosy and welcoming, a broad drinks list, and good frozen coffee when Tennessee summer makes hot coffee a questionable decision. Pastries too.

Black Elm Coffee Shop — a local independent with a steady following.

Just Love Coffee Cafe — coffee plus a proper food menu, which makes it the one to pick if "coffee" is really "breakfast".

Bloom & Brew Coffee — another local independent in the mix.

Lili Bella's Cakes — not strictly a coffee shop, but the cinnamon rolls come up in conversation often enough that leaving it off would be an omission.

The appointment coffee

We notice this constantly: a great many of our patients build a coffee stop into their appointment. Before, if they are early. After, if they have the afternoon.

It is a good habit and we would encourage it, with one small caveat. If you have just had a facial, a peel, or anything involving heat or resurfacing, your aesthetician may suggest holding off on very hot drinks for a short while. Ask on the way out — it takes ten seconds and it is the kind of small thing that makes the rest of the day more comfortable.
